ELLE: How would you describe your personal style?
LIELA MOSS: A tomboy who is secretly dying to explore her sexy feminine side and flirt with a little gaudy material magnificence.
ELLE: Do you have style icons?
LM: Nick Cave, Fellini films, Nico, Patti Smith.
ELLE: What do you admire about McQueen himself?
LM: How noble his designs look. His work is operatic.
ELLE: What’s your favorite piece from McQ’s collection for Target?
LM: The gray off-thearm dress and the black mackintosh. I wear it with a scarf, brooch, and umbrella in hand. (I do live in London!)
ELLE: What do you think about when you’re getting dressed for a show?
LM: I need to feel larger than life or sexy and catlike, so I think: Can I shake in this? Does it catch the light? But it all needs to be true to a certain punk rock ethic.
ELLE: What’s your favorite ensemble at the moment?
LM: Recently, I wore a brilliant white zippered shirt. It had a boiler-suit feel to it. I pinned white feathers to it and nipped the waist with a Kiki de Montparnasse belt. I created this punk-rocking, doctor-nurse-mechanic vibe!
ELLE: What reminds you most of yourself from McQ’s collection for Target?
LM: Well, come on, my face is on the T-shirt!
